Together We Serve
Lions and Leos serve out of a genuine desire to see our community inspired, equipped, and
transformed. Through regular meetings and service projects we learn about the needs of the
community and use our resources to meet those needs.
In the Community
The Bowie Lions show up to help the community at a variety of local events. You might see us at the farmer’s market selling rain barrels, or passing out bandages after the city 5K. You can find us at the National Night Out. We coordinate the Green Expo in April and host Breakfast with Santa in December. We sponsor blood drives throughout the year and a National Diabetes Awareness event at Allen’s Pond in November.

Childhood Cancer Awareness
The Bowie Lions team up with other local Lions Clubs to raise money to defray the expenses not covered by insurance for families with a child undergoing treatment for cancer. Money from this fund might pay for travel and meals or other comforts and conveniences when managing an extended series of treatments. In 2021 the area Lions donated to five thousand dollars to both Children’s National Medical Center and University of Maryland Hospital. In 2022 & 2023 the Bowie Lions donated art supplies and over $600 to Tracy’s Kids, and art therapy program for children with cancer.
