ABOUT US

Chartered in 1962, the Bowie Lions Club is one of the more than 46,000 Lions Clubs worldwide, with 1.4 million members in over 200 countries. The Lions Clubs are the largest service club in the world, living out our motto, “We Serve.”

Physical Support: Bowie Lions conduct vision and hearing screenings and provide assistance for eye exams, glasses and hearing aids. We support service dog training and loan medical equipment to members of our community in need. We organize and participate in blood drives. Lions also focus on hunger relief by sponsoring a shelf at the Bowie Interfaith Pantry, and donating food packages during the holidays.

Environmental Support: The Bowie Lions make and sell low cost rain barrels, a program that earned recognition in 2012 from Lions International as the best Long-Term Environment Award. We are also one of the founding sponsors of the annual Bowie Green Expo.

Youth Support: The Bowie Lions inducted their first Leo Club at Tasker Middle School in 2021, encouraging students to give service to their community and environment. Lions also provides assistance for scholarships and school supplies through Stuff-a-Backpack programs.
