There are times that helping our environment requires a hands-on approach. The Bowie Lions are active participants in the City of Bowie stream clean and stormwater drain marking program, in addition to other programs like the city’s weed warrior program. The Bowie Lions are clean Gothic Lane and Gulliver’s Trail through the city’s Adopt-a-Road program.
Rain barrels help homeowners save rainwater for use in the yard, minimizing runoff and reducing water bills. The Bowie Lions build rain barrels from recycled commercial food containers. Barrels are sold at the Bowie Farmer’s Market in the summer, and by appointment after. You can purchase your rain barrel on our payments page, and use our contact form so we can arrange for you to pick it up at the den, or make a local delivery.
Recognizing a need to live a greener lifestyle for ourselves and our future generations, the Bowie Lions Club along with the City of Bowie and the Greater Bowie Chamber of Commerce founded the Bowie Green Expo . The Expo which is held the second Saturday in April each year is dedicated to helping us all lead greener lives by presenting information, practices and products that help us to create a greener environment.
